Format

Since 2007, it has been possible to download an mp3 of the sermon from Family Church (Sunday morning service). A 30-minute sermon is approximately 7 or 8MB as an mp3, and can be downloaded in seconds, or at worst in a few minutes, via a modern broadband connection.

If you have difficulty accessing these sermons and would like some on CD or tape please contact us.

Archive

The most recent sermons are usually available online and are often uploaded on the day the recording is made. Occasionally, recent sermons are not available online but can be made available to members and friends of the Gospel Mission on request. Furthermore, older sermons are kept in an archive offline.

The archive listed here goes back to the start of 2007 and sermons in the archive are readily available. The sermons from Family Church have been recorded regularly for many years. Evening Praise is now often recorded also.

Technical Note

Sermons are recorded via a cable from our mixer desk to the microphone port on our computer. The raw sound is recorded using Audacity on Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition and exported as WAV. There follows some post-editing with Audacity on Linux and finally the WAV is converted to mp3 using toolame (on Linux) using a bitrate of 64kbps.

[Update 2008-08-23. Conversion is now performed on Linux using lame, because of problems with toolame's Layer II MPEGs reported by some users of Windows Media Player under Windows Vista. There are several references to this general problem on the internet.]
